Stake.com Co-Founder Quietly Acquires Interest in PointsBet

Stake.com Co-Founder Quietly Acquires Interest in PointsBet, Australian Media Reports Ed Craven, co-founder of Stake.com, in collaboration with business partner Bijan Tehrani, has reportedly acquired a stake in PointsBet, according to the Australian Financial Review.

The investment, made through EasyGo Gaming, represents approximately 4.2% of PointsBet’s shareholder base, as per the Review’s report. Both EasyGo Gaming and the stakeholders involved have chosen not to comment publicly on this development. Gambling Insider has reached out to Stake.com and PointsBet for further clarification. Stake.com, headquartered in Melbourne but registered globally in Curaçao, has been off-limits to Australian users due to its cryptocurrency betting model, which doesn’t comply with local regulations. However, Tehrani hinted at pursuing a separate Australian wagering license in a previous interview.

The partnership with PointsBet aligns with recent local business registrations and legal maneuvers for trademark rights, indicating a strategic move to tap into conventional gambling channels in Australia.

This discreet investment by Craven and Tehrani follows their successful international ventures, including Stake.com’s recent expansion into the Colombian market through the acquisition of Betfair Colombia. In August 2023, Fanatics introduced the Fanatics Sportsbook app across multiple US states following its acquisition of PointsBet.
