SOFTSWISS has thoroughly explored the realm of social casinos, dissecting intriguing player patterns and trends within this vertical. Drawing on 15 years of experience in iGaming and analyzing data from 700,000 SpinArena.net players, one of Europe’s largest and fastest-growing social casinos, the company offers deep insights.
Recently, SOFTSWISS acquired a stake in Ously Games GmbH, the company behind SpinArena.net, providing additional motivation to delve into big data and number crunching. The statistics presented by SOFTSWISS help to profile the typical social casino player.
“Social casinos are part of the mega trend in the global entertainment industry, where player behavior aligns with traditional online casino gaming. Anticipating the evolution and integration of social casinos with iGaming, SOFTSWISS partnered with Ously Games GmbH to introduce a new B2B software product – a comprehensive platform for social casinos,” notes SOFTSWISS COO Vitali Matsukevich.
For starters, over 80% of social casino participants prefer to conceal their age and gender, limiting the sample size for analysis. Among those who do share their age, young men aged 18 to 30 account for 12.45% of players, while 3.12% are aged between 30 and 40.
Players who reveal their gender are also limited to around 12%, with the remaining 88% opting to withhold this information. Most SpinArena.net players are from Germany, followed by the United Kingdom. Despite this limited data, the analysis proceeds to identify the reasons and main drivers for why people play at social casinos and how much time they spend there.
The average play session on SpinArena.net is about 47 minutes, according to SOFTSWISS data. Most players game between 4 PM and 9 PM, with the lowest traffic recorded between 2 AM and 5 AM. Players are also more active on Fridays and Sundays, with less activity on Mondays.
Interestingly, players on SpinArena.net show a propensity for social responsibility and what the company refers to as human biorhythms, or natural sleep cycles.
Ously Games GmbH Founder Jochen Martinez commented on the analysis, noting that it demonstrates how social casinos can fulfill the same needs as traditional real-money casinos, but with a much safer experience.
“Combining gaming with social interactions provides a unique environment and neutralizes financial risks. Players can enjoy activities like connecting with friends while playing their favorite games,” he concludes.
SpinArena.net offers over 3,000 games, but almost half of the traffic is concentrated on 15 top games, indicating that visibility and popularity play a crucial role in game selection. The top five games, for example, account for one-third of all gaming sessions. These include popular titles like Gates of Olympus, Sugar Rush, and Sweet Bonanza, which are favorites in both social and real-money casinos. Additionally, SOFTSWISS recently provided an insightful analysis of crypto gambling habits and the waning dominance of Bitcoin.
