Starting next year, Mega Millions will introduce exciting updates, including multipliers called Megapliers, enhancing non-jackpot prizes by 2x, 3x, 4x, or 5x. A 10x multiplier will debut in April, coinciding with a base ticket price increase to $5—a nearly 300% price hike.
While these updates are months away, tonight’s $1.15bn jackpot draw remains the center of attention. This massive prize, the fifth-largest on record, has captivated players nationwide. Mega Millions Consortium Lead Director Joshua Johnston encouraged participants to check their tickets and embrace the chance to fulfill lifelong dreams.
“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the season than by winning life-changing prizes,” Johnston remarked.
Odds of winning the jackpot stand at roughly one in 300 million, but over 100 tickets have come close, matching five of six numbers. Should a player claim tonight’s prize, they could choose annuity payments or a lump sum, estimated at $516m after taxes.
Historically, most winners opt for the immediate lump sum over annuity payments, even though the latter delivers a higher total. If no one wins tonight, the jackpot will roll over for another exciting draw on Tuesday, January 31.
