The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has taken action against another group of unlicensed offshore gambling platforms.
In an official statement, the regulator confirmed that eight websites were found offering casino and sports betting services without the required Australian licenses.
More Websites Violate Australia’s Gambling Laws
Australia permits online sports betting but prohibits internet casinos. ACMA identified eight platforms breaching the Interactive Gambling Act 2001, requesting internet providers to block them:
- JokaRoom
- AUDPokies888
- Aura Play
- Instant Casino
- Leon
- Rich Papa
- UUSpin
- Wild Pokies
Since launching this initiative in 2019, ACMA has blocked over 1,154 illegal websites. Additionally, around 200 operators shut down voluntarily after the regulator warned about potential license issues in legal jurisdictions.
Despite the time-consuming process, ACMA remains firm in its mission, reminding Australians to avoid offshore gambling platforms that lack proper authorization.
ACMA Maintains Pressure on Illegal Operators
The regulator continues advising players to stay away from unlicensed operators, emphasizing that deceptive websites may mimic legitimate brands.
ACMA remains committed to tackling illegal gambling in Australia and recently published a review of its Q4 enforcement activities.
Meanwhile, other countries, such as Brazil, have blocked thousands of illegal gambling platforms at a much faster rate.
